The rear brake of my 2017 Scout has never provided much assistance in the braking department. A gold plated diamond encrusted ($219) rear brake master cylinder kit and a set of ferodo brake pads and voila, I have a rear brake that works. Only God knows what material the standard pads are made of. They appeared to be made of metal. They had a smooth polished look.
